Cumberland UEY - A Community Research Study

helping to give children the best possible start

The Cumberland Understanding the Early Years (UEY) initiative is a community research study. Cumberland UEY works in partnership with schools, families, and community agencies to gather information on:

  • the school readiness of Cumberland Grade Primary students; and,
  • the community resources available to support families and young children.

Cumberland UEY then shares this information with community partners, and works with them to develop an action plan to meet the needs of Cumberland County families and their preschool children.

Cumberland UEY is sponsored by Cumberland Mental Health and supported by an advisory group, the Cumberland Healthy Beginnings Network.

Cumberland UEY is funded by the Government of Canada under the Understanding the Early Years initiative (UEY). The primary objective of UEY is to strengthen the capacity of communities to enhance their children's readiness to learn at school.
